  • Beeswax is made from honey. Honeybees must visit about 2 million flowers to make a pound of honey. It takes 8 and a half pounds of honey to make a single pound of beeswax!
  • The melting point of beeswax is about 147° F.
  • Beeswax candles will often develop a white coating. This is caused when the wax’s oils rise to the surface. You can remove this coating by rubbing the candle with a soft towel or using a blow drier to warm it up. Pure beeswax candles will continue to experience this problem.
  • Beeswax is used for many things besides candle making. Other common uses include:

    • Marble repair
    • Leather conditioning,
    • Wood waxing
    • Quilting,
    • Pan coating
  • A beeswax candle’s wick should always be trimmed to a quarter of an inch before it is lit.
  • Cotton wicks work best with beeswax candles. If you are making your own at home, do not use zinc or other metal-based wicks
  • Burn your beeswax candles an hour for each inch of its diameter.
